Welcome Back Wildcats!

Welcome to September!

For the past 3 weeks, students and staff have been getting settled into the year. Routines have been established, and expectations have been set. We are very excited about the learning that has already occurred, and we look forward to a wonderful year ahead!

College Week, our next SAC meeting, and Progress Reports are coming up. Fall Picture Day, a TAES Spirit Night, and a PD Day are also scheduled this month.

See below for all the details about these events and for other school updates and messages.

Visitors

Campus Visitors

All campus visitors should enter through the front office. Please note that the front office remains locked throughout the day. When visitors arrive at the front office, they should ring the doorbell on the doors on the side of the building. The doors facing the parking lot are exit only. A staff member will answer your ring and open the door once you indicate the reason for your visit. Please have your ID ready if you are checking out your student or need a visitor's badge.

Cell Phone Policy

Florida law restricts the use of cell phones during the school day. Students must turn off cell phones and place cell phones and ear buds/headphones in their backpack when they arrive at school. These items must remain stored away during the school day and should not be used until students exit campus.

Attached is the district cell phone policy that was established for reference.

Wildcat House System

In order to help build school spirit and comradery amongst our students, this year we are rolling out the Thacker Avenue Wildcat House System.

Each grade level has adopted a Wildcat and color to represent their grade level team or "House". House teams will compete in various categories throughout the year and will have the opportunity to earn incentives and recognition.

Throughout the year, we will also host Wildcat days and students may wear their House color. Please consider purchasing a basic shirt in their House color so your student can participate.

Below is the basic House information. We will continue to share more details about each House in the coming weeks.

Parents we hope you will also get in the spirit and represent your student's House too!
